“I want to be a lawyer when I grow up” states Antonio - a young man of African American descent who yearns for the stability, love and comfort of having a permanent family of his own. He is a wonderful child who has a lot to offer. He describes himself as “laid-back, nice and intelligent”. Although he sometimes needs help with math, he values the importance of education, and his favorite subject in school is history. Antonio has many interests and enjoys basketball, football, crocheting, and chess. He loves listening to the most recent and popular music and especially likes rap music. Antonio sometimes has issues with anger, but he continually works on positive ways of expressing himself and learning constructive ways to deal with his anger. When asked what makes him happy, he responded that “people” make him happy. Not having a permanent family makes him feel sad, angry, or frustrated. Antonio really wants to be part of a family that welcomes him with kind words and frequent hugs and helps him to feel safe and loved. He has a close relationship with an uncle and would like his new family’s support in maintaining this contact. A one or two parent home environment as the youngest child will benefit Antonio. This very enjoyable child wants nothing more than the unconditional love and commitment of a family to call his own.
