Photolisting Profile for Marcella

Marcella is a 12-year-old girl from Oklahoma who is hoping to be adopted.

Marcella, or Marcy for short, and her sister Kira are famous!! This beautiful duo, along with their younger sister, got to help Governor Henry light the state Christmas tree last Christmas! Their pictures were in the newspaper, and they enjoyed all of the attention they received from their friends and schoolmates!

Marcy is a beautiful 12 year old with a feisty personality. She is a pretty girl, but does express some self-consciousness about a birthmark on the left side of her face. As you can tell, she has a beautiful smile. Marcella takes medication to help manage her behavior, and could be considered ‘fidgety’.

Kira is a beautiful little 8 year old girl! Kira is described by her foster mother as a ‘girlie-girl’ and likes to wear dresses and have her hair done. She is age appropriate in her behavior and takes no medication, but does follow Marcy’s lead and sometimes gets into trouble.

Marcy and Kira both attend the same elementary school. Marcella may be going into special education in the next semester so the school can better meet her needs, and hopefully an IEP will be put into place that can help pinpoint some of Marcy’s difficulties. Kira attends first grade, and does have some delays. The foster mother is working with Kira on the numbers and alphabet.

Marcella and Kira have been in the same foster home for approximately 4 years. They are placed with their younger sister and her paternal grandparents. Their younger sister has been removed from DHS custody by her tribe, and is being adopted through the tribe by the current foster parents. Marcella and Kira are not tribal, and the foster parents are not interested in adopting them. It is likely that Marcy and Kira will need a lengthy adjustment period and experience great loss after they move, as this has been their only placement since being in custody. They will need continued counseling to help them understand and cope with their past.

Marcella and Kira will do well with an adoptive family who can provide them routine, structure, educational advocacy, therapeutic support, unconditional love, and continued contact with their sister.
