Description
Her foster mom says that Mary is an ideal kid who does what she is asked without a fuss. She is nearly always smiling and happy and she loves to laugh and be silly. Mary truly cares about others’ feelings and makes friends very easily. She enjoys art, drawing, photography, scrap-booking, and reading. Mary loves animals and wants to go to N.C. State University to become a veterinarian.
Mary has made a tremendous academic turn-around since moving into her current foster home. Her grades and behaviors have improved so much that she is being recommended for honors classes. Having her foster mom working in her school must certainly be a key factor for Mary’s maintaining good behavior. Counseling is helping her take responsibility for daily chores, continue to improve grades and complete school assignments, and dealing with feelings from past experiences.
Mary will do best with adoptive parents who will encourage her continued academic progress and work with her to succeed. An active family who will also support her desire to play soccer and be more active would be very beneficial. Mary needs a family that provides structure, stability, assurance, and clearly set and appropriate rules and consequences. Mary has a sister with whom she has recently been reunited and will need to continue building that relationship.
