When you meet Matthew, you are greeted with his winsome smile. He is a Caucasian youngster who is eager to have a permanent home environment with a family that clearly values him as their son. Matthew has many passions, and while he prefers playing outside and riding his bike, he is also happy watching television and playing with action figures or matchbox cars. What will really impress you about Matthew is his talent for drawing! He is a wonderful artist whose pictures are characterized by fantastic details. In the school setting, Matthew tries very hard and is excellent at rote memory tasks. He also excels in spelling and basic math facts. He encounters more difficulty when it comes to the application of information he has learned. Because of issues related to auditory processing, it is critical to check his level of understanding. Matthew has experienced placements that did not become permanent, so he is still looking for that place where he can finally unpack and feel at home. He will benefit from continued individual and family therapy to help him learn how to build healthy relationships. He enjoys the companionship of other children and should do well with other children in the home.
