Mercedes is a 14-year-old girl from Maine who is hoping to be adopted.

Mercedes (who prefers to be called Sadie) was born in May 1995 and loves art…and is very good at it! She is friendly, active and is a natural leader. Sadie enjoys horseback riding, swimming, and playing outside. She likes to be active and will often be found engaged in some sort of activity. Sadie has made great gains in school over the past year. She is in some mainstreamed classes throughout the school day and the goal is to increase the amount of time Sadie spends in the regular education setting over the coming year. She also receives special services during the day. During school, Sadie enjoys art class the most, but also likes recess and lunchtime. Sadie is a great eater and will choose health snacks and meals over sweets and candy. Her favorite foods include “raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and pineapple.” Sadie also enjoys football and baseball…and her favorite teams? The Red Sox and Patriots of course! Sadie has contact with her biological siblings and it is important that this continue in an adoptive placement. It is also important that Sadie continue her individual therapy, as she is working well with that support. Adoption subsidy may be available through The Department of Health and Human Services.
