Michael is a 16-year-old boy from Virginia who is hoping to be adopted.

Michael is an African American young man who is really into sports! He is very athletic and enjoys being competitive. He also enjoys bike riding, remote control cars, and listening to music. He is bright and does well in public school where he is on grade level. As Michael has had many losses in his young life, he is not always comfortable with physical affection. He can also exhibit oppositional behavior toward parent figures. He recently stepped down from a residential treatment program to a group home placement as he continues to work on his goals of being less oppositional, more respectful, and accepting of his role as the child rather than the adult. Michael will do best in a family with a strong adult male figure. His family will need to understand that Michael has difficulty trusting adults and believing they will be there for him over a long period of time. An experienced, active family who is able to establish and maintain limits and consequences while understanding his reluctance to form attachments could provide the best environment for Michael.
