Michael is an 18-year-old boy from North Carolina who is hoping to be adopted.
Michael is described as being completely likable with a sweet nature. He genuinely cares about people and is sensitive to younger children and knows when to be a role model and when they need assistance. Michael is a goal-oriented child and has a calendar to log important dates and appointments, which help him maintain motivation. He is very interested in pursuing a career in the arts in which he can utilize his talents and his interests for creating graphics for clothing, drawing, developing comics, and writing poetry. Michael is enrolled in an online High School Diploma program through a North Carolina county community college and intends to graduate through this program. He is extremely intelligent and earns very good grades when he is in a situation that doesn't allow his behaviors to get in the way. Michael is motivated to work hard and be consistent with his appropriate behaviors so he can participate in activities. He will need to continue therapy and utilize the methods he has learned to manage them. Michael will do best with no other children, or older children as role models, in the home. An adoptive family for Michael will need to allow him to continue therapy and be willing to occasionally attend with him. They must have patience and allow for a gradual transition to allow Michael to thrive in his environment. Consistency, stability, structure, and lots of attention are also things Michael will need from his family. Clearly set expectations both of and for him, along with appropriate consequences will also be helpful. Michael will need to have continued contact with his sister and aunt, if he chooses.Agency Child ID: NC01172983
