Mikaela is a 13-year-old girl from Maine who is hoping to be adopted.
Mikaela is a very pretty young lady with brown hair and hazel/green eyes. She was born 8/96. Mikaela is in the 6th grade and really enjoys school. She does get special education services and one to one help as needed.
Mikaela is a very pleasant and outgoing child. She is energetic and enthusiastic. She enjoys going to church with her foster family. Mikaela is very polite. She enjoys roller skating, swimming, drawing, writing, singing, basketball and playing with her dolls. She likes to take bubble baths.
Mikaela presently lives in a therapeutic foster home. Mikaela had two previous foster placements. Mikaela is aware of the plans for adoption, and although anxious about this, is also helping to locate her adoptive family. She entered care in September of 2004 due to abuse and neglect. Parental rights were terminated in May of 2007.
Mikaela has a significant trauma history and was exposed to substance abuse which impacts her both educationally and emotionally. She does take medication and is involved in individual therapy. Mikaela responds well to consistency and predictability in her environment. She needs help reading social cues.
Mikaela would do well in a two parent home with a parent who is home with her after school. She should be placed with older children and should be monitored around animals. She should be in a family that is outgoing and enjoys doing activities together. Mikaela would do well in a family that can provide her with consistency and structure. She is a neat kid and will be a wonderful addition to the right home. An adoptive family would need to feel comfortable working with a team as Mikaela will need ongoing therapeutic and educational services. She is eligible for adoption assistance.
