Nakia has an appealing smile. She enjoys shopping, talking on the phone, and riding the bus to the mall. Nakia likes going to the movies and to after school events. Nakia sings in the choir at church and she likes to play basketball. Nakia was Baptist and she goes to church every Sunday. Nakia is a good student and is a sociable young lady at times. She enjoys attending events with her foster family and extended foster family. When she grows up, Nakia desires to be a nurse or telephone operator. Nakia loves talking on the telephone. Nakia is a young lady with a warm engaging smile. She is easy to relate to and has progressed on expressing her disappointments in a verbal manner. Nakia is soft spoken and upon initial introductions she appears to be shy and quiet. Nakia responds well one on one as well as in small settings. Nakia has had multiple placements and it is understandable that she sometimes find it difficult to control her anxieties and mistrust of others. Nakia is becoming more confident in her abilities and she is making progress on following through with expectations. Nakia loves home cooked meals. Her favorite foods are chicken with hot sauce, pizza, salad, and baked potatoes. She enjoys most snack foods, especially potato chips, fudge rounds, hot chips and blue Pepsi. Nakia’s former case worker says that Nakia enjoys talking when she feels comfortable and that she can be a trustworthy young lady if she put her all in a relationship. Her foster mom says, "Nakia is helpful and completes her chores. She is a good child who can be quite inquisitive and witty." Nakia needs a one or two-parent home that will provide her with a nurturing, loving and structured home environment. Nakia also needs adoptive parents who would be very specific in their expectations of her, consistency with her needs, and out spoken parent(s). Nakia needs a parent(s) that can deal with a child who is overcoming past trauma. She needs a family that will be patient with her, be affectionate, and spend quality time with her. Nakia will need some one who will be supportive in the school system due to Nakia feels the school system is against her and out to get her because she is a DCS child.
