This handsome little boy with the enchanting eyes is Nathan! Nathan is a 3 year old little boy who has had many struggles in life, yet still is able to smile and snuggle with those to whom he feels close. Although it can take Nathan a bit to warm up to a new face and voice, the smile you get is a reward for your patience! Nathan has long eyelashes and a contagious laugh! His sweet smile and sense of humor make him a delightful little boy. Nathan relies on others for all of his needs. He is able to sit up and scoot. He can stand, but not on his own. He is fed through a tube and uses a wheelchair due to intracranial injury from non-accidental trauma. Nathan, however, is a happy toddler, and loves spending time with others. He is a pleasure to those who provide him with Speech, Recreation, Occupational, Physical, and Child Life Therapies, although he sometimes cries during his therapy. Nathan's visual, dental, hearing, and mental health are appropriate for his age. Nathan's favorite toys are those that provide him with visual and auditory stimulation through music, bright colors, and colorful lights. He also loves to snuggle when he's being read to! Nathan generally is a content child and is easily calmed by holding and cuddling him. He does not throw tantrums or have any other negative behavior. His nurses all love him and his physician notes that the staff experiences great joy in caring for him. He is described as a pleasant baby. The nurses who regularly work with Nathan state that his best attribute is his spirit. They state, "This precious little boy has won the hearts of all his caregivers.” He has faced his hardships, adversities, and illnesses with a smile on his face and joy in his heart. He is truly a “little angel among us”. Nathan needs a family who is prepared to work with him through therapy, committed to providing for his daily needs through adulthood, and loves him unconditionally.
