Peter is described as a sweet child who has an infectious grin. He is eager to learn and asks many questions about things that interest him. He does learn at a slower pace, but loves to learn anyway. Peter has some developmental delays and it is not clear whether he will ever be fully independent. He attends a school that specializes in working with children who need more assistance with academics than what he would receive in a regular school. Peter also suffers from a muscle disorder and receives physical therapy in order to build up the strength in his arms and legs. He is able to walk without assistance, but his gait is a little wobbly. Peter states that he loves animals and he loves caring for animals. He would like to work with animals when he is older. Peter said he would like to be adopted by a family who likes animals and would allow him to have a pet. He also enjoys going out to dinner and has told the adoption worker that he would like to be adopted by a family that likes to go out to eat. Peter needs a family with strong parenting skills. They must be accepting of his limitations and be committed to meeting his physical, emotional and academic needs. Peter struggles with a number of psychiatric issues and is currently on medication to help him. Peter has a younger brother and sister whom he is attached to and ongoing visitation would be encouraged.
