Precious

Precious is a 4-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Precious is a very beautiful child who at times can be very sociable. She is very observant and applies information in daily life. She enjoys watching TV to include shows such as Dora and Wonder Pets. She can brighten any room with her smile, and loves to receive attention from others. Precious is learning at a slower rate than other children her age, but imitates words she hears. She does say some single words. She follows some verbal commands and shakes her head yes or no. Precious enjoys the outdoors. She is very interactive with others and likes to play. Precious has a lot of spunk and personaility and can be stubborn when she wants to be. Precious is diagnosed with several medical conditions including Prune Belly Syndrome, Pulmonary Hypoplasia, GERD and is in need of a kidney transplant. She receives occupational, speech, and physical therapy two times a week. Precious is working on standing in physical therapy, activities for daily living in occupational therapy and communication skills in speech therapy. Precious is able to walk on her own without or with little assistance. She receives nursing hours through a private nursing agency. Precious is working on oral feedings and oral aversion. However, she is eating table food by mouth.
Precious needs a family who is able to give love, support, and intense monitoring throughout her lifetime. She needs a family who is trained and can tend to her medical needs. Precious needs a family who is resourceful and familiar with the different services that correspond to her medical conditions (she needs a kidney tranplant). The type of family for Precious is someone who has patience and understanding of her life circumstances. Precious is a medically fragile child and will need continual supervision due to her special needs and daily dialysis. Precious will need a very strong family with a high energy level and someone is able to take care of her medical needs. Precious will benefit from a two parent or two responsible adult home; a special family who is well organized, and attentive to details. The family will motivate her to achieve her maximum abilities. Her family will be committed, strong advocates for services, and knowledgeable about the available resources.
