Richard is a 16-year-old boy from North Carolina who is hoping to be adopted.
Richard has a desire to please people and can be a joy to be around. He wants to be liked and has a good sense of humor. Richard's favorite things in life revolve around sports and he would love to again be able to play on an organized team. Richard attends a specialized resource class where he is better able to stay on task and maintain appropriate behavior. His modified curriculum allows him to be successful at his level. Richard has made progress with acceptable methods of letting off steam when an adult recognizes his frustration early and redirects him. He needs concentrated continuation of his therapy to make the progress he needs to be socially successful. An adoptive family for Richard must understand his behaviors and their origin. They will need to have a great deal of time to spend with Richard. He needs patient, consistent communication and people that understand when he is getting upset or frustrated and know how to redirect him. It is imperative that they do not mention something that might happen without following through, as Richard does not forget and will focus on that. He responds well to short term rewards and needs a fun and active family that can keep him busy.Agency Child ID: NC01341738
