Description
Richard will light up your day with his smile, love, and affection. He has Down's syndrome. He is a sweet, kind, and affectionate boy. He likes to color, play with toy cars, and play outside. In school, he requires a specialized school setting due to his chronic condition and functions on a Kindergarten grade level. He is learning daily life skills, working hard at writing his name, and recognizing his numbers and letters. Richard has a limited vocabulary of approximately 50 words but his effort to communicate will amaze anyone. Although it is difficult to understand him, he is patient and will continue to catch your attention and focus until you are able to understand him. He is able to use some sign language to communicate and is good at communicating through body language and gestures. Richard has tubes in his ears, which have improved his hearing, but he still has a difficult time hearing. Richard is very eager to learn and communicate with others. He is an extremely loveable, friendly, and curious child. He loves to give hugs and to please others. This boy will captivate your heart when you are around him with his attentive, friendly, outgoing, and eager personality.
Richard will do well in a loving, nurturing home who understands his limitations, but also recognize his potential. He needs a family who is familiar with Down's Syndrome, and Autism, and will be able to cope and have patience with his condition.
