Sage is an attractive and charming boy with a big smile and winning personality. He is described by everyone who works with him as a sweet child with a good heart. Sage loves to play sports and says he is a good kicker, but would like to be able to punt higher. He is an active and outgoing child with a good sense of humor. Sage enjoys age-appropriate activities, particularly playing football and soccer on an organized team, and shooting baskets with friends. He has a wonderful singing voice and a song performed for a talent competition was broadcast by a local radio station. One of Sage’s goals is to stop whining when he doesn’t get his way and he is doing much better at that. Sage has come a long way, academically, from the child who first entered Pre-K not being toilet trained or speaking. He has moved from Special Education services to having a special learning plan to earning above-average grades. Sage is beginning to develop a more positive self-image. His socialization skills have improved remarkably since moving into his current placement and he is generous about reaching out to new kids and showing real empathy for them. He no longer uses inappropriate behavior to seek attention and he has developed the ability to establish strong, positive relationships that have survived the usual ups and downs of adolescence. Sage wants very much to be adopted. He would like a mom and a dad, two big dogs as pets, and he would like to live in the mountains, or at least somewhere that gets snow. Sage wants a family that goes to church and enjoys sports. He would benefit from a strong male figure in his life to serve as a role model as he matures. Adoptive parents for Sage must be experienced in working with traumatized children or be open to training in this area during the transition process. He has a brother with whom future contact might become important.
