Sara is a 17-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Sara is a friendly, outgoing, affectionate girl who likes to be around people and her peers. She loves being in the center of the activity. She is well behaved in most social settings. Sara can be a little strong-willed when her desires are not achieved or she feels uncomfortable by having a "temper-tantrum". Sara will take her time to know you before she acknowledges you. She wears a helmet to protect her head from falls. She wears corrective eye glasses. She loves watching Barney and other children's programs on television. She has participated in Special Olympics with the rest of her school peers. Sara has Cerebral Palsy. She is developmentally delayed in all areas. Sara uses a wheel chair at school. While at home she scoots and rolls around to get some time away from the wheel chair. The physical therapist is working with Sara to use a walker, and stander. She drinks from a cup and eats puree foods but requires a feeding tube for additional liquid nutrition. Sara loves going to school and interacting with classmates. She receives speech therapy to help develop communication, physical therapy to help strengthen her arms and legs, and has made great progress from her occupational therapy. Sara loves going to school and interact with classmates. She is assigned to a 9th grade Special Education self contained classroom. Visit me at the TARE Gallery.
Sara will grow with a loving and patient family. The family needs experience caring for children with severe medical and developmental disabilities. A family who can dedicate time, love, nurturance and commitment will be a family Sara will do well in. Sara will need her parents to be strong long-term advocates for her.
