Description
Sarah is a young girl who knows what she wants. In fact, it was important to her that she have a part in the writing of her profile. Sara wanted everyone to know that she likes to draw pictures, color, write stories and go swimming. Sarah stated that she likes going to the water park and to ride go-carts. She likes to watch TV and listen to Christian music. Sarah states that she attends church, but thinks it can be "kinda" boring at times and because it is so big, it lasts a long time. Sarah also wants everyone to know that she can take care of herself. That she brushes her teeth without being told and likes to wash her own hair and dress herself. Sarah is doing well in her foster home but is prone to tantrums and during a tantrum she really, really wants to leave the house. Thus, it is necessary to provide Sarah with a lot of attention. Sarah has an older brother that lives in the same foster home but they do not get along and it has been noted by their foster mom that they really don't communicate with each other. She will be placed separate from her brother in adoption. Sarah needs help in controlling her emotions at times. Sarah may have a kick and scream tantrum if she does not want to do something. Sarah has a slower rate of learning and receives special educational assistance in school. In addition, she receives speech language therapy and behavior therapy. She has visual, hearing and learning disabilities. Sarah really does not understand adoption and while eager to talk about herself, she has difficulty talking about this subject as it is just a little beyond her current level of comprehension. Sarah will need a home that can provide her with constant love and attention. She will need a family that will be open to sibling contact. Sarah also needs a family that can provide her with structure, stability and lots of patience. Her family will need to have the time to provide a lot of one on one time and attention to Sarah and be willing to monitor her behavior to keep her safe. She will always need some assistance in life but will be able to take care of her own basic needs.
