Shakil is a sensitive, yet funny young man who gets along well with everyone. He is charming, respectful, and loves to dress fashionably. Shakil enjoys riding his bike, playing basketball, and board games such as Chess and Scrabble. Shakil is quite a talented artist and loves to draw and color. Shakil hopes to go to college to become a veterinarian. Shakil has recently been mainstreamed into regular classes, although he does receive some resource assistance to help improve his reading skills. He has made tremendous progress in his personal life, as well, and moved into a less intensive group home. Shakil loves school and his teachers have only positive things to say about him. He is an extremely bright boy who works very hard to maintain his standing on the A/B Honor Roll. Counseling is helping Shakil deal with his feelings of grief, loss, and past experiences. Shakil needs an adoptive family that is active and will support his extracurricular activities. His adoptive parents should be very nurturing and patient and be willing to attend counseling with Shakil to allow for a smooth transition period. He would love to be adopted into a family with other children and lots of pets. He is very close to his grandmother and will need to have ongoing contact with her and his brother.
