Photolisting Profile for Shamia

Shamia

Age:14
Gender:F
State:North Carolina

Description

Shamia is an attractive and strong young woman who advocates for herself and actively participates in the major decisions of her life. She gets along well with other kids and genuinely desires to learn to be a good friend. Shamia has an incredible amount of potential. She enjoys basketball, cheerleading, computers, board games, and participating in her church groups. Shamia would like to be a pediatrician when she grows up. Shamia attends mainstream classes at school where she could do much better if she applied herself. She is very bright and currently working on her challenge of wanting things that don't belong to her, as well as learning to maintain positive peer relationships. Shamia requires a great deal of supervision and structure while she struggles with her impulse issues. The adoptive family must be aware of these issues and love and accept her in spite of them. They should be able to set limits and communicate effectively with Shamia. Having experience with children and the issues that bring them into care would be a huge benefit for all. They should be willing to work with her in therapy while providing support, consistency, understanding, and lots of love. Shamia has two sisters with whom she will need contact and visits.
