Sharon is a 17-year-old girl from Virginia who is hoping to be adopted.

Sharon loves music of all types and is not afraid to belt out a song during a car ride. She has natural athletic abilities and has excelled in every team sport she has tried so far, with soccer being her favorite. She is in excellent shape and likes to stay fit. Although school work can sometimes be a struggle for Sharon, she works extremely hard and benefits when supportive structure is in place to encourage her to keep plugging! She is very proud of herself when she does well. Sharon has many strengths and wants a family environment where she feels safe, settled and loved. Although Sharon has had difficult early life experiences, she is able to form close relationships with her caregivers. She sometimes needs help with proper social interactive skills, and even though she may be cautious when she first meets people, she is growing in her ability to trust and share. Her new family will need to understand that sharing her emotions doesn’t always come easy for Sharon. She likes to be helpful, takes advice well, and responds positively to redirection from adults. Sharon would revel in a family that enjoys her successes at school and on the field. She dreams of being the only child or youngest child in a loving, stable environment with a supportive family that will always take pride in her successes in life – and there will be many!
