Photolisting Profile for Shavonta
Shavonta is a 11-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.
Shavonta is an independent child who enjoys spending time alone. She would rather spend time alone than with her peers. Shavonta enjoys watching television, listening to her radio and drawing. She likes to dance and sing along with the music. She has favorite television programs that she likes to watch on a daily or weekly basis. Shavonta enjoys spending time with her foster mother and is most suited to spending time one on one with an adult. Shavonta does a fairly good job keeping her room clean but she needs some instruction as to expectations. Expectations that are communicated in a clear, concise and calm manner work well with Shavonta. She can present challenging behaviors when she does not get what she wants. Shavonta receives assistance on managing her behaviors at school and has shown improvement. Shavonta has medical documentation of unexplained variances in an Magnetic Resoncance Imaging (MRI). The MRI demonstrates some form of "alteration" or "shadowing" of unkown origin to the brain. She previously had hydrochepalis. She will have a need for further testing and monitoring. Shavonta will benefit from a one or two parent family who can spend a signficant amount of time with her while engaging in various community acitivites. She will do best with a family who can provide a lot of individual attention and also be understanding that it is important for her to have alone time. The family will need to be patient as Shavonta adjusts. The parents will use available community resources for Shavonta, including educational services. It is important to Shavonta that she be able to continue to maintain contact with her siblings who are not a part of this adoption.
