Photolisting Profile for Shelby

Shelby is a 9-year-old girl from Texas who is hoping to be adopted.

Shelby is a lively and spirited child who believes that there is no dream to big for her to achieve. She is friendly, has a great sense of humor, and easily engages in conversation with those lucky enough to meet her! Shelby is a very active child who likes to be busy and involved. Like most girls her age, Shelby loves to go shopping. She'll save her allowance for trips to the dollar store and Wal Mart! Such a strong and bright personality, Shelby often challenges authority without question. She is prone to a temper but responds best to firm limits. Shelby is learning to express her frustration in more appropriate ways. Shelby most wants to be able to express her opinion and when given the opportunity to disagree is most often compliant with whatever is asked. Shelby is a bright child and generally successful at school. Shelby is visually impaired and requires glasses. She learns best through written instructions as opposed to verbal or visual. She loves sports but her ability to participate in contact sports is limited due to the risk of injury to her eyes. Shelby does need frequent redirection and can be impulsive or easily distracted. It will be important for her family to communicate with her teachers to ensure her educational needs are being met. Visit me at the TARE Gallery.

Shelby will do best in a home that is experienced in parenting children with emotional needs. Shelby needs consistent boundaries, structure, and routine. She will do best with a family capable of finding activities that will build her self-esteem while allowing her the freedom to express herself. Shelby maintains contact with biological family members including a sister and grandmother. It is important for her adoptive family to help her maintain this relationship in a manner that is beneficial for Shelby. Due to persistent allergies, it is not recommended that Shelby be placed in a home with pets. A family willing to be patient as she learns to accept their love and devotion will be richly rewarded!
