Sherry is a 14-year-old girl from Oklahoma who is hoping to be adopted.

Sherry was born in May of 1995. She is described as being 5’ tall and she weighs 91 lbs. Sherry has light brown hair and blue eyes, with a fair complexion. Sherry wears prescription glasses. She has no outstanding or unusual features or birthmarks. Sherry has been off all behavior-type medications for more than a year and is doing very well. She is in good health, no allergies, and has no physical conditions/limitations, with the exception of wearing glasses. She has no current dental or hearing problems. In school, Sherry has an individual plan that provides academic supports. She continues to do well overall, though – like everyone - there might be times she does better than other times. Sherry is a loving child; she is a child whose outlook is usually one of her cup being half full instead of half empty. She tries to find the good in everyone and keeps a positive outlook most of the time. Sherry is helpful and very interested in the world around her. She has expressed for a long time that she wants to be a ‘crime investigator’ when she grows up and recently asked her worker if she thought that would be possible. Sherry is very talkative and sometimes needs to be told to slow down so people can understand her. She loves her Bratz dolls, playing games, loves to swim, fish, listen to music, and watch movies. Sherry loves to ‘kid’ others goodheartedly and to tell funny stories. She is good with ‘getting’ as well as ‘giving out’ when it comes to joking around. She has a big, beautiful smile but also tends to be shy when around other people she does not know. Sherry wants to learn more about make-up and how to ‘put it on appropriately”. She is beginning to be more focused on the clothes she wears and that they fit well, that things are matching, and how she looks to others. She wonders about boys, flirting, and appropriate behaviors when around them. Sherry might be picky at eating sometimes but can always find something to satisfy her. Her favorite things to eat are pizza, spaghetti, hamburgers, and all kinds of vegetables. She loves Strawberry Slushes with real strawberries in it. Sherry gets upset sometimes if she feels someone has been mean to her. She can hold grudges if feeling wronged and may need help to process conflicts. In the past she has been physically aggressive but her behaviors have greatly improved as she has matured over the last two years. She might have issues but they are not as intense or physical as in the past. She interacts well with her siblings and loves to play games of all kinds with them. She sometimes will argue with younger children and does better with older peers. She will usually have one or two peers she considers her best friends and confides to. Sherry states that it is her dream to be adopted. She says, “I want a family that wants me as much as I want them. One that wants me to be part of them, loves me enough to want to adopt me and is willing to do that… I do not want to be treated like a foster child any more.”
