Photolisting Profile for Shia

Shia is a 10-year-old boy from North Carolina who is hoping to be adopted.

Shia (pronounced Shy) is a fun-loving kid whose smile can melt your heart right to the core. He is very charismatic and loves to clown around. Shia is also insightful, caring, has good manners, and likes to help others. Everyone who has contact with him enjoys Shia. He is very active in sports and enjoys watching wrestling and playing football and baseball. He says basketball has too many rules. Shia recently attended a Carolina Hurricanes game and is now an ardent hockey fan. He also has a dream of going to a Florida Gators football game. Shia attends special resource classes at school where his personal academic plan allows him to be more successful and compliant. He is able to learn and perform at grade level if he is in the right setting with the right motivators. Shia was recently one of a handful of students named “Student of the Month” at his school. He has worked very hard and is proud of his accomplishments. Counseling is helping Shia work through his feelings of loss and grief, improve his coping skills, and learn appropriate methods of expressing his frustration. The ideal adoptive family for Shia would be a married couple, stable in their relationship, with both equally interested in committing to adoption. They should be experienced in parenting with either no other children or older, positive role models in the home. The adoptive parents should be young enough to be active and support Shia’s interest and participation in sports, as well as being strong academic advocates. They must understand the permanency and commitment that adoption requires. They must be supportive of whatever counseling Shia might require, be willing to maintain some birth family connections, and above all, they must not use any type of physical discipline.
