An active child, Shirley is very strong and enjoys swimming and playing basketball. Her favorite foods are pizza and spaghetti. She likes to listen to music on the radio and on CDs. Painting and watching Disney movies are also things this child likes to do. Shirley needs help and encouragement getting close to new people due to her past losses and often squabbles and needs close supervision. She is very strong-willed, so she can get frustrated easily and may not responsive to redirection at times, but she says she "really" wants a family to adopt her.
Shirley and Angelica are closely bonded sisters who love each other very much. They love to be around each other and play together, although some sibling rivarly is displayed at times. They are both very interested in fashion and like to look their best. They get along with other kids, but can become frustrated when things do not go their way. Shirley likes to pelase adults with her behavior. She likes to read and her favorite activities are associated with church. Angelica is very sociable. She is very energetic and has a great sense of humor. She likes to ride her bike and go swimming.
Shirley would do best in a family where she has other brothers and sisters. Communication with her two brothers who are not part of this adoption should be continued. A family who can maintain the high level of supervision would be best. She needs positive adult interaction and wants a family who is very involved with their church. Patience, structure and consistency are a must for the adopting parents. Educational support and assistance will be required although Shirley has the ability to perform well with support.
