Photolisting Profile for Stacey

Stacey is a 10-year-old girl from Virginia who is hoping to be adopted.
The first thing everyone notices about Stacey is her smile - she can brighten up even the cloudiest day with it! Stacey loves helping to care for younger children, and she is very affectionate and patient with them. She has many dolls and loves to assume the mother role in her play. Because she has experienced abuse and neglect in her past, Stacey is a little slow to warm up to strangers, but once you have her trust, she is very engaging and affectionate. After coming into care Stacey began to participate in counseling and is becoming more willing to talk about her feelings. She sometimes shuts down emotionally, but with patience, her foster parents have been able to draw her out and help her talk through what is bothering her. Receiving positive attention from adults is new for Stacey, and she is somewhat reluctant to share it now that she finally has it! In counseling, she is working on her feelings of jealousy about the attention her foster parents give to other children. She is getting much better at recognizing those feelings and is learning how to verbalize them to her foster parents. In school, Stacey is in some special classes as well as main streamed classes. She enjoys school, and she has always viewed it as a safe place where she can be herself. Stacey is a little girl who will thrive when she finds her place in a forever family that will shower her with attention and lovingly guide her on her journey through life. With her potential and that smile, it will surely be a great journey!Disclaimer
