Every activity serves as a learning opportunity, which requires patience and caring, to which he positively responds. Tariq must be supervised at all times to maintain his safety.

Tariq is a sweet-natured boy who desires to be connected to others, especially adults. He will likely benefit from a family who has patience and will take every opportunity to teach him everyday living skills. His home and school environments need to be structured and consistent. Tariq requires attention to express his needs and feelings so he doesn't become frustrated. He needs to remain in a special school placement to maximize his learning. He will also likely benefit from continued participation in Special Olympics. Tariq will not be able to live independently as an adult, so his adoptive family will need to provide a home for him or locate a structured group home environment. His birth mother would like to maintain visits and contact with him, though they will have to be supervised.
