Yesenia is a 15-year-old girl from Arizona who is hoping to be adopted.
Yesenia is a fun-loving, energetic 15-year old. Even in brief interactions, it’s obvious she has an impressive zest for life and adventure. She likes shopping and going to the mall, but shuns the “girly girl” label. Yessy, as she likes to be called, is passionate about staying active with some of her favorite activities being skateboarding and biking. She explains that the sensation of supreme focus she experiences while skateboarding is unlike any other. And she’s not afraid to go to the skate park even when she’s the only girl riding! Yessy comes off as being quite mature for her age, as she has learned a lot from her tumultuous past. Since she has been in multiple placements, she now feels tired of moving around, not keeping friendships and not having a permanent family to call her own. There have been times when Yessy has veered away from families by pushing boundaries, but she now recognizes that a forever family is one thing she desires. She feels strongly that she does not want a family that is ready to judge her by her past, but by the person she is today. Yessy has clear set goals for herself and craves the support and structure necessary to achieve them. Very self aware, she recognizes and identifies her tendency to fall in with “the wrong crowd” and she’d like a family that is devoted to keeping her on track. Yessy does well in school and enjoys learning. She is attending both a theater camp and a church camp this summer. Yessy sang in the choir this past school year and taught herself to play the piano. She has recently expressed an interest in learning how to play the guitar. She has a determined spirit and an infectious laugh. Yessy is very adept at making the best of situations and has a way of lifting the moods of all those around her. She is an excellent public speaker and is on a youth advisory board that speaks out on behalf of foster children. She openly expresses that she does not want to age out of foster care in a group home, but desires to become a part of a loving family.Disclaimer
