Zephaniah is an 8-year-old boy from North Carolina who is hoping to be adopted.
Zephaniah is a compassionate, lovable, and caring young man. He has a terrific imagination and knows how to tell a story. Zephaniah is adorable and funny and has a good sense of humor. He enjoys riding his bike, shooting baskets, and playing with his toy cars, trucks, and transformers. His favorite things, however, are his foster mom’s cooking and going anywhere with his foster dad or their adult grandson. Zephaniah is not yet sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but he definitely wants to go to college. Zephaniah attends special resource classes at school where he receives additional individual attention. He has made a great deal of progress, both academically and behaviorally. A personal aide spends time with him after school, working to improve Zephaniah’s social skills. As he matures, Zephaniah is developing more self control, thanks to the support of his foster family and teachers. He will need to maintain his counseling to help him continue making the splendid progress he has shown so far. Due to Zephaniah’s need for a structured family life and consistency in his daily routine, transition from foster care into a permanent adoptive home must be slow and carefully planned. Adoptive parents for Zephaniah will need to be able to access and work with a variety of community resources and service providers, and have a strong family support system of their own. A family accepting of Zephaniah must be willing to work with him to attain his highest functioning level possible. In doing this, they should be able to enjoy the pleasure of watching their son grow successfully into manhood through one small triumph after another. Single and two-parent families will be considered and other children are acceptable. Zephaniah has contact with birth siblings and this should be allowed and encouraged to continue.Agency Child ID: NC01163164
