Molly is a 14-year-old girl from Europe who is hoping to be adopted.
Molly was born in January 2003. She has been diagnosed with moderate mental retardation with autistic manifestations and strabismus. Molly is described as an energetic, versatile, good child who likes to swing, play ball, dance, listen to music, and ride a bike. She can walk independently, including up and down stairs. She eats and dresses/undresses without assistance. Even though she is potty-trained, she sometimes has accidents. Molly does not play with other children and has a tendency to isolate herself. She communicates selectively with familiar adults in simple sentences, but often avoids the meaning and goal of a dialogue. Molly does perform simple orders. She exhibits some stereotyped behaviors, such as rocking, thumb-sucking, tapping hard surfaces, and holding her right index finger in a bent position, even while performing fine motor tasks. Molly works with a special pedagogue under an individualized education plan. She has learned to identify some shapes and letters, count to ten, scribble, stack, complete simple puzzles, and thread. According to her teacher, Molly has good developmental potential. Molly is also included in the Grandmother Grandchild program and feels at ease with her "grandmother."
